Dahlberg Arena/Robin Selvig Court
First opened in 1953 as the Harry Adams Field House and christened on Dec. 18, 1953, in a game against No. 1 Indiana, Dahlberg Arena is home to Montana’s men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as its volleyball team. Additionally, the arena has welcomed in world-famous musical artists through the years, including Elton John, Sting, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Pearl Jam, Luke Bryan and many more.
The playing surface was named Robin Selvig Court in February 2023 after the longtime Lady Griz coach who led the program to 865 wins and 21 NCAA tournaments.
The venue, which seats more than 7,000 spectators, has seen plenty of history – and UM success – over the past seven decades.
Entering the 2023-24 season, the Grizzlies’ men’s basketball team is 755-261 (.743) in more than 1,000 games inside Dahlberg Arena, boasting one of the nation’s top home-court winning percentages. During the decade span of 2012-21, the Grizzlies were one of 37 programs nationally to win at least 82 percent of their home games, also claiming five Big Sky Conference titles.
The Lady Griz began playing their home games in Dahlberg Arena in 1978-79 and have a 586-102 (.852) record on their home court entering the 2024-25 season, including eight perfect records. Montana has played 12 games in front of crowds of 7,000 or larger and have had home-court winning streaks of 45, 35, 33 and 29 games over the years.
Named after George “Jiggs” Dahlberg, a former UM student-athlete and athletics director, and the men’s basketball program’s winningest coach with 221 career victories, Dahlberg Arena has seen a handful of renovations over the years. The biggest came in 2001, when a two-year remodel was completed to re-seat and modernize the facility. Prior to the 2017-18 season, a state-of-the-art, four-sided video board was installed above midcourt. Two years later, the floor was resurfaced.
Dahlberg Arena is located inside the Adams Events Center on campus, which also houses the Washington-Grizzly Champions Center, Eric and Blair Sprunk Student-Athlete Academic Center, Coyle Recovery Room, newly renovated locker rooms and staff offices.
