The University of Montana Spirit Squad is comprised of 3 separate entities (cheer squad, dance team & mascot), each individually serving our University in their own unique way.
The primary mission of the UM Spirit Squad is to promote school spirit at all home football, basketball and volleyball games, as well as serving as ambassadors for UM Athletics.
The UM Cheer Squad consists of both male and female members, incorporating many lifts and throws to get our crowd on their feet during games! Be sure to look for them doing flips across the end zone in front of 25,000 people during home football games.
The UM Dance Team this year is represented by 21 beautiful young ladies whose dance abilities are showcased at each game. Be sure to look for them performing with the UM Marching Band at halftime of football games and enticing the crowd at basketball with their fun choreography.
Last but not least, our lovable mascot, Monte. You can catch Monte riding into Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Saturday afternoons on a motorcycle and doing flips across the end zone. Monte was recently inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed only to one college mascot this year.
These student-athletes work hard both on and off the field, practicing 3-4 days per week, plus weight lifting and conditioning, on top of their school schedules and community appearances. We are so proud of the role they play in Grizzly Athletics and the energy they bring to all home games and events.
