2024 Girls & Women in Sports Day Application
The Lady Griz and Grizzly Athletics are excited to once again celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day!
February 1, 2024 marks the 38th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, "A national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports."
The Montana Department of Athletics will once again celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day at a home Lady Griz Basketball game this season! This year's event will take place on Saturday, February 10th when Montana hosts Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. on Robin Selvig Court inside of Dahlberg Arena. The University of Montana Athletics Department will offer a pre-game clinic (ages 4-13) and the opportunity for job-shadowing during the game (ages 7-13). Registration is now open for girls ages 7-13 to have a chance to be a part of the game-day experience by shadowing different staff positions. Available spots range from marketing, ticketing, spirit squad, to in-game music, social media, or equipment staff. Each junior gameday helper applicant must submit a short video of no more than one minute in length explaining why they would like to be part of the game-day team. You can send this video to gabi.toulon@mso.umt.edu. Applications to be a junior gameday helper will be accepted through Sunday, February 4th.
In addition to the gameday helpers, the athletic department will host a pregame youth clinic (ages 4-13) starting at NOON on February 10th in the West Auxiliary Gym located inside of the Adams Center. The clinic will have representatives from most of the women’s sports teams the University of Montana has on campus. It’s a great way for kids to interact and meet some of their favorite student-athletes and have fun playing games!
There will be a check-in process the day of the clinic and all parents/guardians will need to bring a signed waiver for their child and/or children participating in the pre-game clinic on February 10th. On the day of the game, we are offering up to three (3) free tickets to clinic participants and junior gameday helpers. All applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (MT) on Sunday, February 4th. Selected applicants will be informed Monday, February 5th.
