- Lettered three times in football as end, quarterback and halfback, and two years in basketball at UM
- Returned as UM athletic director and head football coach in 1967
- Coached back-to-back 10-0 regular seasons in 1969 and 1970, qualifying for Division II national championship game (Camellia Bowl)
- Broke 81 school and 21 Big Sky Conference records in 1969 and 1970 seasons
- Athletic Director from 1967 to 1974
- Inducted into Washington Coaches Hall of Fame in 1986
