- At the conclusion of his Grizzly career he was the school’s all-time leader in career rushing yards with 2,228, holding that record from 1981-2000
- He’s currently (as of 2016) ranked fifth on Montana’s career rushing yards list
- He’s the only player in school history to receive the Terry Dillon Award (outstanding back/receiver) three times (1978, 1979, and 1981). A 6-3, 215-pounder, he played both running back and quarterback
- His senior season he rushed for a team-high 783 yards for the 7-3 Grizzlies, and was the team’s Steve Carlson Award (MVP) winner
- Following his senior year he was the recipient of UM’s Grizzly Cup, which was given annually to the school’s outstanding male student-athlete
- Rocky played professionally for the New York Jets (he was a ninth-round draft pick) for five seasons, from 1983-1987
- During his NFL career he was named the New York Jets March of Dimes Player of the Year in 1988
