“Lurch” started for the West in the 1994 East-West Shrine Game and in the Senior bowl (he’s the only UM player ever selected to play in the Senior Bowl)

Had an illustrious 11-year career in the NFL, playing for the New York Giants, san Francisco 49ers, and New York Jets, starting in 151 NFL games, including 112 in a row
A second round NFL draft pick in 1995 (ties him for the highest UM pick ever in UM history with former offensive lineman Steve Okoniewsky, who was a second round selection by the Atlanta Falcons in 1972)
An active member of Athletes in Action and on the board of directors of the Pro Athlete Outreach organization
