Lizzie Wertz Named to All-Big Sky Volleyball Team

University of Montana volleyball player Lizzie Wertz was named to the All-Big Sky Conference Second Team, the league office announced today.
Wertz, a 5-foot-11 junior outside hitter from Oakland, Calif., ranked among the Big Sky leaders in several statistical categories. She led the league in kills (4.43 kpg) and was fifth in digs (3.48 dpg). She led the league in 20-kill matches with 10, while she was second in 20-dig matches with six. In addition, her 19 double-doubles were second in the conference and her five matches of 20-plus kills and 20-plus digs were a league-high.
An honorable mention all-conference selection in 2001, Wertz tallied at least 20 kills in eight of Montana's 14 conference matches.
Wertz has also added her name to the Big Sky Conference record book. She now ranks ninth in the Big Sky Conference in career kills per game at 3.89 kpg.
Montana finished the year with a 7-18 overall record. The Grizzlies were eighth in the Big Sky Conference with a 1-13 league mark.
