... The University of Montana Lady Griz women's basketball team (10-5, 1-1 Big Sky) will travel to Bozeman this week to take on league-leading Montana State University (11-4, 2-0 Big Sky) Friday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. MST at Worthington Arena.
The game will be televised live on KPAX-TV in Missoula and statewide on its MTN affiliate stations. Radio coverage will be provided by the Lady Griz flagship station, KLCY Radio in Missoula (930 AM), with Tom Stage providing play-by-play.

... The University of Montana men's basketball team (2-2 Big Sky/8-11 overall) continues its league slate on the road, playing at Montana State (1-3/7-10) in Bozeman, Saturday, January 25. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. MST at Worthington Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on KPAX-TV in Missoula and statewide on its MTN affiliate stations. Tom Katz will provide play-by-play, with Jason Dixon doing color commentary. All Griz men's basketball games are carried by the Griz flagship station, KGVO in Missoula (1290 AM), with Mick Holien as the play-by-play announcer. ... ATTENTION PHOENIX AREA GRIZ FANS OR THOSE HEADED TO PHOENIX FOR VACATION AND/OR SPRING BREAK 2003. Two golfing fund-raisers for UM Athletics are currently scheduled in the Phoenix (Arizona) area in March.
The first will take place on Sunday, March 23rd, sponsored by Al McCarthy and Duke's Sports and Grill. The two-person scramble will begin at noon at the Silverado Golf Course in Scottsdale. Cost is $100 per person. Following the golf outing at 6 p.m., there will be a function at Duke's Sports and Grill in Scottsdale. The next day, Monday, March 24th, the 2nd annual Griz 4-Person Scramble will take place at the Tatum Creek Ranch at Cave Creek, north of Scottsdale. The scramble will start at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $110 per person, with proceeds going to UM Athletics. Following the golf, there will be hors d'oeurves, as well as a program featuring UM Athletic Director Wayne Hogan and new Griz football coach Bobby Hauck. ... If you think Washington-Grizzly Stadium's north end zone is rowdy now, just wait until September. The state Board of Regents unanimously approved a proposal Thursday to add 4,004 seats to the north end zone of the University of Montana's football stadium, bringing capacity to 23,009. The cost is expected to run between $2 million and $2.5 million. The proposal also calls for additional restrooms and concession stands.

That's the plot of the latest ESPN "This is SportsCenter" commercial, scheduled to debut at halftime of the Super Bowl on ABC on Sunday, Jan. 26. Work is continuing on the UM Athletics "Hall of Champions" project, which will include the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame, as well as trophies, retired jerseys and other related materials to help preserve the history and promote the successes of UM Athletics. The hall is located in the south concourse of the Adams Center on the UM campus. Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with the National Advisory Board for Grizzly Athletics, is raising approximately $350,000 to complete the project, which also consists of a donor wall for Grizzly Athletics. This wall will contain the names of those individuals who have made endowment gifts or major donations to the athletic department over the years totaling $5,000 or more. Categories have been established for the various giving levels to athletics ($5,000-$9,999; $10,000-$24,999; $25,000-$49,999; $50,000-$99,999; $100,000-$499,999; $500,000-$999,999; and $1 million and more). ... UM athletic teams wouldn't be as successful without the private financial support they receive from Griz fans across the country. One avenue of this private support is the specialty clubs that provide additional funding for such things as recruiting, etc. In addition to making a huge difference in each of these programs, members of these specialty clubs are "more in the know" about what's happening in the respective sports offered at UM Athletics.
