First day results from Al Manuel meet

Montana State throwers swept the hammer throw Friday afternoon at the Al Manuel Meet, held at Dornblaser Field at Missoula, Mont. Blake Jackson won the men's competition with a throw of 178-feet-5.50-inches while Jennifer Allen took top honors in the women's hammer with a toss of 159'-9.00".
Montana senior thrower Cy Hanson was the only Montana thrower to finish in the top-8 for the men, finishing in eighth place with a throw of 127'-10.00". The Grizzly women had a pair of freshmen throwers in the top-8. Stephanie Bortz of Thompson Falls, Mont., finished in sixth with a mark of 139'-8.00" while freshman Jessica Falcon placed eighth with a toss of 135'-5.00".
The hammer throw was the only event of the Al Manuel that took place Friday at Dornblaser. The rest of the meet gets underway Saturday. The women's javelin at 10:30 a.m. gets the field events started while the women's steeplechase at 11:15 a.m. starts the running events.
