Forty Montana student-athletes recognized by Big Sky

The University of Montana had 40 student-athletes on the Big Sky Conference 2006 Fall All-Academic Team the league office announced Tuesday. Montana was represented by 18 members of the football team, nine from the women's soccer team, six from the women's cross country team, four from the women's volleyball team and three from the men's cross country team.
Montana's 40 honorees ranked second among league schools behind Eastern Washington's 43. Weber State had 39, Idaho State 35, Northern Arizona 31, Portland State 28, Northern Colorado 24, Sacramento State 20 and Montana State (which does not offer women's soccer) 19.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have participated in at least half of the team's 2006 competitions, achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and completed at least one academic term at UM.
