Thirty-six Grizzly student-athletes recognized for academics

The University of Montana had 36 student-athletes on the 2008 Big Sky Conference Spring All-Academic Team the league office announced this week. The Grizzlies were represented by 15 members of the women's outdoor track and field team, 12 from the men's outdoor track and field team, four from the women's tennis team, three from the men's tennis team and two from the women's golf team.
Montana's 36 honored student-athletes ranked fourth among league schools behind Montana State's 54, Weber State's 46 and Eastern Washington's 43. Rounding out the league were Northern Arizona (34), Idaho State (33), Northern Colorado (31), Portland State (23) and Sacramento State (23).
To be eligible, student-athletes had to have participated in at least half of their team's 2008 competitions and finished the spring semester with at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average.
