Steve Hackney Roast Jan. 21st

The University of Montana athletic department will be holding a roast for its long-time UM equipment manager Steve Hackney, who is retiring Dec. 31, 2010.
The roast will be held Friday, Jan. 21st at the Holiday Inn-Downtown At The Park, former Griz head football coach Joe Glenn will serve as the emcee.
All proceeds from the event will be used to build an athletic scholarship account that will properly recognized "Hack" for his dedication to UM and Grizzly athletics. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Grizzly athlete "who is an exceptional representative of UM Athletics via his/her outstanding work ethic.
"Hack" has been UM???s equipment manager for almost 30 years, starting in 1981.
He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1962 and then joined the Navy. After he left the military he worked in a lumber mill, mining, then he went to UM, working at being an athletic trainer, and graduated in 1972.
After graduating from Montana he attended Indiana State where he earned a graduate degree in Athletic Training, and he then returned to his native Bitterroot and became a logger, and finally began his career as UM???s long-time equipment manager.
