
West Virginia wins 10th straight, downs Montana 3-0

West Virginia hit .369 and made quick work of the Montana volleyball team Saturday night in the final match of the Mountaineer Invitational at Morgantown, W.V.
The Mountaineers (10-1), who were led by 2012 Flathead High graduate Hannah Sackett, won their 10th straight match while dropping the Grizzlies to 0-10.
Sackett had eight kills and no errors on 14 swings to hit .571. She also had a pair of blocks in the 25-10, 25-17, 25-10 victory.
Griz sophomore Michelle Robinson, who was limited to six kills and .000 hitting by West Virginia, was named to the all-tournament team. In four matches, Robinson averaged a team-high 2.67 kills on .237 hitting. She also added a team-high four service aces and 13 blocks (0.87/s).
Nobody else for Montana had more than three kills, and the Grizzlies were held to a -.035 hitting percentage, with 18 kills and 21 attack errors on 85 swings.
West Virginia more than doubled Montana's kills total with 40. Every Mountaineer who took more than one swing hit .281 or better.
Freshman middle blocker Brianna Gardner got her first career start in place of redshirt senior Natalie Jones and finished with three blocks. Senior Kelsey Schile, the Grizzlies' primary setter over the team's final seven sets at the tournament, had 16 assists and three blocks.
Montana will host Seattle on Thursday and Gonzaga on Saturday in the Grizzlies' final matches before opening Big Sky Conference play at Weber State on Thursday, Sept. 25.
