December 16, 1995 was the date that changed Montana football forever.
It was 20-years ago to today (Wednesday), the Griz defeated Marshall 22-20 for the program's first-ever national championship on an Andy Larson field goal.
Like other life changing events, Montana fans remember where they were on that fateful West Virginia afternoon when Larson's kick defeated the powerful Thundering Herd on its home field.
The '95 Grizzlies took home the program's first National Championship that day, spring boarding Montana Football into decades of success. It was a remarkable group of players that gave their heart and soul to the Grizzlies and the fans back in Missoula.
In honor of the 20-year anniversary, members of the '95 National Championship team have rallied together to support the Grizzly Athletics facility improvements project. At this season's homecoming game, a team gift of $300,000 was announced before the UM faithful at Washington-Grizzly stadium.
The team's generous support is invaluable in making the Grizzlies' athletic facility improvements a reality. Now, the team needs your help to continue its legacy.
The '95 Griz are challenging Griz nation to support these important facilities by making a gift in honor of the 20-year anniversary of the National Championship.
