Inclement weather, which has included lengthy lightning delays and flash-flood warnings, forced the suspension of competition Thursday at the NCAA West Regional at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan., before a single event could be completed.

Twelve running and five field events were scheduled for Thursday but now won't be held until at least Friday. A new schedule of events has yet to be finalized by the NCAA.

The men's hammer and women's javelin, both of which started at noon local time, made it through two flights of throwers before being shut down and ultimately delayed until Friday.

Montana senior Lindsey Dahl was among the early javelin throwers to get in three attempts. She went 137-9 on her third throw, her best mark of the day but 18 feet short of her season best. She ranks 30th out of 32 throwers.

Sophomore Hana Feilzer (hammer), juniors Sammy Evans and Nicole Stroot (long jump) and sophomore Sterling Reneau (400m preliminaries) were also scheduled to compete on Thursday.
