Doran, Crittenden named Big Sky Scholar-Athletes
6/9/2016 1:22:00 PM | Football, General, Women's Basketball
The best and the brightest of the Big Sky Conference's graduating classes were named the league's Scholar-Athlete Award winners this week. Montana was represented by Derek Crittenden of the Griz football team and Hannah Doran of the Lady Griz basketball program.
Â
To qualify for the award, which goes to a men's and women's student-athlete from each Big Sky school, winners must have completed their final year of athletic eligibility, competed for at least two years at their school, been a letterwinner and have at least a 3.2 GPA.
Â
None of the criteria was an issue for either Crittenden, who graduated with a 4.0 GPA as a chemistry major, or Doran, who graduated with a 3.68 GPA as a biochemistry major.
Â
Both will be furthering their educations in the fall. Crittenden will be going to Penn, one of the Ivy League's eight member schools, to study biotechnology, with an emphasis on drug research and design.
Â
Doran will be returning to her hometown of Corvallis, Ore., to pursue a master's degree in science education at Oregon State, with an endorsement in chemistry and biology, with the goal of becoming a high school science teacher.
