
Colyer, Eastwood lead Griz at Moscow

Junior Reagan Colyer led the Montana cross country team with a sixth-place finish in the Division I women's race Thursday evening at the season-opening Clash of the Inland Northwest Invitational at the University of Idaho Golf Course in Moscow, Idaho.

Sophomore Jonathan Eastwood led the men's team with a 15th-place finish.
Â
The Griz women's and men's teams both finished fourth out of the four Division I schools competing.

Idaho, with its top five runners in the top nine in the standings, easily won the women's race with 28 points. Eastern Washington, with 61, was second, Gonzaga, with 64, came in third. Montana was fourth with 76 points.

Colyer covered the four-kilometer course in a time of 14:17.
Â
Sophomores Emily Pittis, Bridget Creel and Jessica Bailey all had top-20 finishes. Pittis crossed the line in 10th in a time of 14:26, Creel was 16th in 14:50, Bailey came in 18th in 14:58.

Gonzaga junior Jordan Thurston won the women's race in a time of 13:40.

Eastwood finished the men's six-kilometer course in 19:03, 40 seconds behind race winner Troy Fraley of Gonzaga. Fraley finished 13 seconds clear of the rest of the field with a time of 18:23.

Junior Paden Alexander was the only other Montana runner to crack the top 25. He came in 25th in a time of 19:24.

Gonzaga won the men's race with 26 points. Counting attached and unattached runners, the Bulldogs took five of the top six individual places.

Idaho was second with 40 points, Eastern Washington came in third with 62, Montana was fourth with 104.

The Grizzlies' next race will be the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman on Saturday, Sept. 17.
