Griz cross country programs named All-Academic

The Montana women's and men's cross country programs both received All-Academic team honors recently from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Teams must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to receive the annual award.

Coach Vicky Pounds' women's program had a cumulative team GPA of 3.63 at the end of the fall semester. The men's program came in at 3.21.

The women's team has had a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 since the department began tracking academic performance in 1999. The men's team has been at 3.0 or above since 2007.

A total of 427 teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic distinction.

Idaho, Montana State, Portland State, Sacramento State, Southern Utah and Weber State of the Big Sky Conference joined Montana in having both their women's and men's programs recognized.

Colorado was named the women's Scholar Team of the Year. BYU received that award on the men's side.
