Nominations for Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame now being accepted

The University of Montana is currently accepting nominations for its prestigious Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame (GSHF). The nomination deadline is April 1, 2020.

The GSHF was created to "pay tribute and give lasting recognition to those student-athletes, coaches, and teams who have made exceptional contributions, and brought recognition, honor, and distinction to the University of Montana in the field of Intercollegiate Athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by their experiences."

The Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame is comprised of 63 former UM athletes, coaches, and teams. The most recent (2019) induction was safety Vince Huntsberger (2001), the MVP of the 2001 national championship game and now an emergency room physician in Sandpoint, Idaho. Also honored was Dr. Robert Curry, who became the second-ever recipient of the Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award for his service and dedication to Grizzly Athletics.

Plaques list the accomplishments of the athletes, coaches, and teams that have been inducted into the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame since its initial class of 1993 are on permanent display in the southeast corner of the "Hall of Champions" in UM's Adams Center.
