3/31/2021 12:43:00 PM | Volleyball
After summer volleyball camps were interrupted in 2020 due to COVID-19, Montana is expecting to again offer a wide range of camps this summer for children of all ages, positions and skill levels. The camps will be run by head coach Allison Lawrence and the Griz volleyball coaching staff, plus current and former student-athletes and other guest instructors.
Below is a breakdown of each camp being offered this summer. More detailed information, including itinerary and registration, can be found online.
Â
Elite Skills Camp – Wednesday, June 16
Grades: Entering 9th-12th
Are you ready to take your volleyball game to the next level? This camp is best suited for high-level athletes who would like to experience a collegiate level training environment. We will emphasize position-specific skill training and strategy, and high-level 6-on-6 play. Athletes should have an extensive understanding of rotations, front-court and back-court positioning and have played in very competitive situations. The camp will be led by head coach Allison Lawrence, assisted by Dana Hallisey.
Â
Advanced Skills Camp – June 24-26
Grades: Entering 9th-12th
Are you ready to improve your overall volleyball skills and prepare for high school play? Then our Advanced Skills Camp is for you! We will train all aspects of the game and build on the knowledge that you already have. The Griz volleyball coaches will help you refine your skills individually and in specialized position training.
Â
Camp is broken up into six sessions for specific skill work, systems and live play. This gives you the ability to register for individual sessions or the entire camp – whichever works better for you!
Youth Skills Camp – Tuesday, July 6
Grades: 4th-8th
Would you like to learn more about the game of volleyball and develop your skills as a player? Then join us at our one-day Youth Skills Camp! Whether you are brand new to the game or have been playing for a few years, you will develop better skills as an overall volleyball player and will take your game to the next level. The Griz volleyball coaches – with at least one instructor for every seven campers – will help you improve on each individual skill and progress into six-on-six play.
Team Camp – July 6-9
Grades: Entering 9th-12th
Griz Volleyball is hopeful that we will be able to offer a team camp this year from July 6-9. With the ever-evolving state of COVID-19, we are remaining cautious and exploring alterations to the camp schedule, accommodations, team sizes, etc. Please fill out the interest form and we will put you on a list as availability opens. Then, depending on the camp outline, you will have the ability to commit or decommit.Â
Camp season is one of our favorite times of year and we continue to be excited about seeing all of you this summer! For more information about Montana volleyball summer camps, check out our camp website online, or contact associate head coach Dana Hallisey at dana.hallisey@umontana.edu.
