Montana went 3-0 over the weekend, defeating Green Bay, Drake and host North Dakota to post its first undefeated tournament title since 2005. The Grizzlies had impressive team and individual performances across the board, helping them beat the Phoenix in five sets on Friday, before overcoming an 0-2 deficit to a strong Drake team on Saturday afternoon, before taking out the Fighting Hawks in three sets Saturday evening. Match Point vs. North Dakota
Taking on former Big Sky foe North Dakota, Montana won the first two sets with relative ease, posting its two most-lopsided set victories of the season. The Grizzlies, though, found themselves behind 21-15 in the third set, before a serving run from Elsa Godwin. The Grizzlies scored nine straight points to set up match point, and won the match – and tournament – a few points later. It was Montana's first outright tournament championship since 2005!
