Cross country season comes to close at NCAA Regionals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Montana competed at the 2022 NCAA Mountain Regional on Friday, sending 12 athletes to Albuquerque, New Mexico. In a highly competitive region, Montana's men finished 16th out of 17 competing teams, while the women were 19th out of 19.
Senior Annie Hill was Montana's top performer, placing 77th out of 130 runners, with a time of 21:50.7.
The rest of the Griz women finished clumped together, with Jaylyn Hallgrimson coming in 118th (23:42.8), followed by Bridget Boyle (23:52.4, 120th), Iris McKean (23:59.8, 121st), Shay Pederson (24:08.7, 122nd) and Kayla Ingraham (24:30.1, 126th).
On the men's side, Rogelio Mares (30:29.3, 82nd out of 119 runners), Will Dauenhauer (30:31.9, 83rd) and Nathan Carter (30:32.3, 84th) all finished together, followed by Cooper Morris (31:24.7, 102nd), Maxwell Scott (31:36.2, 107th) and Brady Woods (31:54.6, 111th).
For Montana, only Boyle and Hallgrimson had previously competed for Montana at Regionals. Of the dozen runners, seven have eligibility remaining, which means that Friday was hopefully a good learning experience for the group of runners.
