Radtke sits in 7th after Day 1 of heptathlon

POCATELLO, Idaho – After the first day of the 2022 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Montana's Morgan Radtke sits in seventh place in the heptathlon, with 2,870 points. The final three events of the seven-event competition will be held on Thursday.
The highlight of the day was in the high jump, Radtke's specialty event. The Drummond, Montana, native placed second, clearing 5-5.75 on her first attempt. Radtke is a three-time scorer in the standalone high jump and enters the week seeded fourth this season in the Big Sky.
Senior Jaree Mane, who is a three-time point-scorer in the heptathlon, ran a 17.39 in the 100-meter hurdles but unfortunately had to bow out of the competition following that event due to injury. She was leading her heat through 60 meters before clipping the final four hurdles. Mane is registered for the standalone 100-meter hurdles, shot put and javelin this weekend, but it is unknown at this time if she will be able to compete in those events.
Thursday's action for Radtke will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters. The remainder of the Big Sky Championships will take place on Friday and Saturday. Radtke, a redshirt sophomore, finished seventh in the 13-person heptathlon field in Wednesday's other three events.
