The Montana track and field and cross country programs will host a spring social and fundraiser for the second straight season. This year's event will be held on April 19 at the Still Room on W. Broadway from 7-9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE. Tickets are $75, and you must be 21+ to attend.
Â
The event will feature a silent auction with proceeds going to the Grizzly track and cross country programs. The entire Grizzly coaching staff will be in attendance for meet-and-greet opportunities, and there will also be student-athletes on hand for interviews.
Â
"We did it last year and just wanted to see if we could create enough interest to make it a viable fundraiser for our program," head coach Doug Fraley said. "It turned out better than what we expected for year one, so we're really excited to bring it back in year two. Griz Nation really took it under their wing to support the track and cross country programs, so it's something we look forward to doing every year now."
Â
The event helps provide support for the programs monetarily, as the tickets and silent auction portion of the night. But it's also a great chance for supporters of the program to come together and meet fellow fans and those involved with the team.
Â
"Not only is it super important for our program, the funds that we raise for travel and scholarships, equipment, everything," Fraley said. "But it's also just a great event to be able to get people who support Griz track and cross country together and get them to mingle with each other. It's great for us, me and my staff, to be able to meet people that really care about our sport."
Â
The event will be held on Friday, April 19. The Grizzlies will also host a home event that weekend with the Montana Open taking place on April 19-20.
Â
"It's not easy to get everybody in one space at one time, so we always want to have it in conjunction with a home track meet when we have parents in town, alumni that might be coming to the meets that still live in the region," Fraley said. "We look forward to getting together with people on Friday night and then have a great crowd at the meet on Saturday to support our team. It's really a weekend of excitement and comradery for our program."
Â
Supporters who attend the event are asked to park in the lot next door near the Garden City Funeral Home to help with overflow parking for the restaurant.
