Ports named honorable mention All-Big Sky

Montana sophomore Raina Ports was named honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference on Wednesday for her play during the 2023-24 season.

Competing in nine events during the fall and spring seasons, Ports finished with a scoring average of 75.42, the best in program history.

The previous record was 75.52, set by Barbora Bakova in 2014-15.

Ports, who had a stroke average of 77.56 last year as a freshman, concluded her sophomore campaign by shooting scores of 75, 72 and 75 this week at the Big Sky Championship to finish 21st.

"She's always had the game. She has just gotten better mentally," said first-year coach Jimmy Mee. "She's got more of that compete in her when things are going bad.

"She's got the tools. She's got the game to be conference player of the year. Now we just need the mental side of it to catch up to the physical side and it could be scary."

Ports becomes Montana's first golfer since Kylie Esh, honorable mention in 2021-22, to be recognized by the Big Sky.
