Evan Todd has put together an impressive year in the field this season – one that will extend to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Friday – but has also been putting in the work in the classroom. Todd was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, the organization announced.
"It tells you that as great of an athlete as Evan is, he's also a very well-balanced young man," head coach Doug Fraley said. "He takes care of things academically at a really high level. We've said it for the last couple of years, he's just an all-around package and this is a testament to that."
In order to qualify for the award, an athlete must be inside the top 50 in the regional performance list while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
It's been a record setting year in the field for Todd, who won his third Big Sky Championship, advanced to the NCAA Championship, and shattered the previous school record with a new best mark of 246-6.
Todd completed his undergrad in three-and-a-half years, allowing him to wrap up his MBA this spring. Todd had a cumulative undergrad GPA of 3.51 to earn a degree in marketing, and had a 3.56 graduate GPA in attaining his Master of Business Administration.
The senior from Kalispell returns to Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon later this week to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He is one of 24 American men competing for a place at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.
Todd is also a candidate for the Academic All-America teams, which will be announced on July 10.
