11 Grizzlies named All-America Scholar-Athlete

Eleven players from the Montana softball team have earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced recently.

Recognized for having a GPA of 3.5 or better for the 2023-24 academic year were Breiana Bonkavich, Emmalyn Brinka, Jocelyn Eisen, Grace Haegele, Grace Hardy, Nyeala Herndon, Hannah Jablonski, Presley Jantzi, Jessica Stanfield, Makena Strong and Madison Tarrant.

Additionally, Montana tied for 69th in the nation with Missouri and South Florida for team GPA with a 3.55 for the academic year.

Jantzi, a sociology major, was recognized by the NFCA for the third time in her career. Bonkavich (communication studies), Haegele (elementary education), Hardy (management and entrepreneurship) and Strong (communication studies) were honored for the second time.

Eisen is an integrative physiology major, Herndon an early childhood education major, Jablonski a math education major, Stanfield a communication studies major, Tarrant a journalism major.

Haegele and Strong were named co-winners of the UM President's Award at the Grizzly Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet in April for having the department's highest GPA over the previous two semesters.

Montana had 13 players named Academic All-Big Sky Conference in July.
