Montana hosts Carroll in Tuesday exhibition

It's a big week for the Montana volleyball team with the Ellesyn Invitational Sponsored by Homewood Suites & Erck Hotels beginning on Thursday, but before the competition kicks off the Grizzlies will play host to Carroll College in a Tuesday night exhibition match.
The match, which begins at 6:00 p.m., will be free to the public to attend.
The Grizzlies are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Grand Canyon Invitational. They were swept in their first two matches by Grand Canyon and Fresno State, a pair of teams that won their conference tournaments and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
In the tournament finale on Sunday, the Grizzlies were able to get into the win column. They defeated head coach Allison Lawrence's alma mater Oregon State in four sets for the first victory over the Beavers since 1980.
Montana recorded 15 blocks in the match, the most by a Montana team since 2019, and held Oregon State to just a .066 hitting percentage. It's just the third time in the last two seasons that Montana has held an opponent under .100.
Montana hit .153 in the win with a season-high 51 kills. Paige Clark led with 18 and Maddie Kremer added 16.
Maddie Pyles was named to the All-Tournament team after an impressive all-around weekend for the Griz. Pyles had 10 digs, 9 kills, and 7 blocks in the win over Oregon State and was the most consistent player for Montana over the course of the first three matches.
The Grizzlies will kick off the Ellesyn Invitational on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. with a match against Utah Valley. There will be two neutral site matches on Friday. Montana then plays Southern Miss at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and wraps the event up on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Boise State.
All matches of the Ellesyn Invitational will be streamed on ESPN+.
