
Three Lady Griz named Academic All-District

Three Lady Griz basketball players were named Academic All-District on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators. Honored were Dani Bartsch, MJ Bruno and Izabella Zingaro.

Bartsch becomes a three-time Academic All-District selection, Bruno was recognized for the second time. Zingaro is a first-time honoree.

Bartsch owns a 3.67 grade point average as an accounting major.

She concluded her playing career earlier this month with 897 rebounds, the second-highest total in program history, the 11th-highest total in Big Sky Conference history.

She played in 122 career games, started 77, and is tied for ninth in program history with 123 made 3-point field goals.
Â
Bruno has a 3.93 GPA as a social work major.

Bruno played two years at Portland before transferring to Montana, where she played all but one game the last two seasons, making 54 starts.

Known for her work on the defensive end, she also 13 times scored 10 or more points as a Lady Griz, including 11 against Montana State in the Big Sky Conference championship game in Boise.

Her late-game steal from the hands of the Big Sky Conference MVP allowed Bartsch to hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining in a game the Bobcats would win by one at the buzzer.

Zingaro, who graduated from Iowa State last spring, has a 3.57 GPA at Montana while she works toward a master's degree in business administration.

Zingaro completed her first year as a Lady Griz averaging 7.7 points on 58.7 percent shooting and 3.2 rebounds.

She started 11 games and scored 25 points at North Dakota State and 21 in a home win over Northern Colorado. She had eight games of 10 or more points this past season.
