
Montana basketball earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

The University of Montana men's basketball team has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for its work in the classroom during the 2025-26 season, the NABC announced Wednesday.

The Grizzlies also had seven players earn a spot in the NABC Honors Court for their individual academic performances.

In order to qualify for the team award, a program needed to have completed the 2025-26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Montana had a cumulative GPA of 3.21 in this academic year. It is the eighth time under DeCuire that the team has claimed the award.

The seven individual honors match the most for the program since the award's inception. Kadyn Betts, Connor Dick, Chase Henderson, Brooklyn Hicks, Tyler Isaak, Grant Kepley, and Trae Taylor all earned a spot in the Honors Court.

Student-athletes need to maintain a 3.2 or higher cumulative GPA with juniors, seniors, and graduate players eligible for the award.
