2019-21 (Prior to UM): Played his sophomore season at Otero Junior College in Colorado (2020-21), where he started 18 of 20 games… Averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.8 steals per game… Was named to the NJCAA Region IX first team as the Rattlers went 15-5 and advanced to the Region IX quarterfinals… Started his collegiate career at Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills, Michigan, about an hour away from his hometown (2019-20)… Averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds across 25 games.
High School: Is a 2018 graduate of Grand Blanc High School outside of Flint, Michigan… Also spent one season at the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida after tearing his PCL heading into his senior season… Was originally committed to Youngstown State out of high school, but was rerouted after needing to finish his final high-school credits.
Personal: Comes from a basketball family, with his father, Lonnell Martin Sr., coaching his AAU team… One uncle, Jeff Grayer, starred at Iowa State, being named a 1988 All-American while still holding the Cyclones’ all-time career scoring record… Grayer went on to represent Team USA in the 1988 Olympics before being drafted 13th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks… Another uncle, Trent Tucker, was drafted No. 6 overall in 1982 by the New York Knicks, part of a 12-year career that finished with an NBA title with the Chicago Bulls, playing alongside Michael Jordan… Martin is the cousin of Miles Bridges, a first-round NBA selection in 2018 after an All-America career at Michigan State.
