The 2023-24 season is Haley Simental’s second year as the director of operations at Montana.
She concluded a seven-year collegiate playing career in 2021-22, spending four years at Denver, three at Nebraska-Kearney.
The Pueblo (Colo.) West High grad played two years at Denver under coach Kerry Cremeans, two under Jim Turgeon. She missed most of her first year and all of her third year due to injury.
In her fourth year, in 2018-19, she played in 30 games for a Pioneer team that went 18-14 and advanced to the WNIT, which included a road win at New Mexico in the first round.
Because of lost seasons due to injury and later because of COVID, Simental was able to play three additional seasons at Nebraska-Kearney.
She twice was voted a third-team All-MIAA selection on Loper teams that won 72 games over three seasons and advanced to the NCAA Division II national tournament in 2021 and ’22.
Her dad, David, played basketball at a junior college in Wyoming before finishing his career at Lewis-Clark (Idaho) State.
Her younger brother, David, played at MSU Billings, Central Wyoming College, CSU Pueblo, Nebraska-Kearney and Regis. Her younger sister, Hannah, plays at Northern Colorado.
