The 2026-27 season is Jimmy Mee’s third full year as head coach of the Montana women’s golf program.
He was formerly as assistant coach with the Grizzlies for two years before moving into the head coaching position in December 2023.
Mee also works as a teaching professional at the Ranch Club in Missoula.
In his first spring season, in 2024, Mee coached Elle Higgins and Tricia Joyce to top-20 finishes at the Big Sky Conference Championship.
Raina Ports would end that season with a season scoring average of 75.42, the best in program history.
In Mee’s first full year, in 2024-25, he coached Ports, Higgins and Kate Bogenschutz to top-25 finishes at the Big Sky Conference Championship.
Ports had a season scoring average of 75.68, Higgins carded a 75.85. It marked the first time in program history two Griz golfers had averages below 76 in the same season.
Ports would conclude her career in the spring of 2026 with a four-year stroke average of 76.51, the best in program history.
Mee is a 2008 graduate of Libby (Mont.) High and a 2012 graduate of Carroll College, where he earned a degree in civil engineering.
He was a four-time all-state golfer at Libby High, placing ninth, seventh, second and third at the Montana Class A state tournament in his career as a Logger.
Mee played basketball and golfed at Carroll for two years before turning solely to golf his final two years. He helped the Saints win a Frontier Conference championship as a senior in 2012.
Mee was inducted into the Carroll Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
He spent eight years playing on the mini tours in and around Arizona before returning to Montana. He supplemented his earnings by working as a caddy at the private Silverleaf Country Club in Scottsdale.
Over the years he caddied for former vice president Dan Quayle, three-time NBA champion Toni Kukoc, fellow Montanan and seven-year NFL veteran Brock Osweiler and Tom Brady Sr.
Mee is married to the former Janell Smittle. They have a son, Grayson.
