Makena Strong is in her first year as a graduate assistant coach with the Montana softball program.

Strong was a three-year player for the Grizzlies from 2023-25, appearing in 97 games and making 63 starts. She totaled 26 hits, scored 35 runs and drove in eight.

She made defensive starts at first base, second base and all three outfield positions.
Â
Strong graduated in the spring of 2025 with a degree in communications studies.
Â
She was a three-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, a two-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection and in 2025 was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators.

Strong was presented with the UM President’s Award in both 2023-24 and 2024-25 for having the Montana Department of Athletics’ highest female student-athlete GPA.
