Montana women's golf announces recruiting class

Head coach Joanne Steele and The University of Montana golf program announce the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2003-04 academic year.
Krista Swanson (Forest Lake, MN / Forest Lake H.S.) and Anna Maria Jaramillo (Ontario, OR / St.Peter Catholic H.S.) join the Grizzly Golf Team that will lose two players to graduation next spring.
"Krista is a great person, student and golfer," Steele said. "She is extremely competitive, and I know she has the ability to step in and make an impact on our program from day one."
Swanson is one of the top prep golfers in Minnesota. She finished third at the 2002 Minnesota State High School Championship and also third at the Minnesota Junior Girls Championship (scores of 75.76).
During the 2002 summer season she was selected as the Minnesota Section Girl's Player of the Year and also won the Player Tour Series A Championship. She completed her summer competition with a 77.7 stroke average.
Swanson not only excels on the golf course but in the classroom as well. She is currently ranked number one in her class while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
Jaramillo joins the Montana squad as one of the top ranked players in Oregon Junior Golf.
"Anna is very talented as well as consistent," Steele said. "She will be a great asset to our program and will add enthusiasm every day."
This past spring Jaramillo finished 3rd at the Oregon State High School Championships. She is also a 3-time district champion and has competed in numerous Oregon and Idaho Junior events. She recently finished 8th at the Idaho Women's Amateur, where she fired a final round 73. She finished her summer season with a stroke average of 77.2.
