Freshman Katie Lewis shot an even-par 71 on Wednesday as the Big Sky Conference Championship concluded at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Â
Lewis played her final 10 holes at 2-under to post her best score of the year. Lewis (76-77-71) was Montana's top finisher at the Championship, tying for 25th.
Â
Lewis birdied her first hole of the day, then had three straight bogeys on Nos. 6, 7 and 8 to move to 2-over. She had three birdies on the back nine, including on two of the back nine's three par-3's.
Â
"It was fun to watch, especially after she didn't hit the turn in a particularly great manner," said coach Jimmy Mee. "Bouncing back and doing what she did was awesome to see.
Â
"And in the toughest conditions, too. It was windier and the course set-up was tough. She learned she doesn't have to have her A game to compete at this level. It should be a huge confidence boost for her."
Â
Montana (305-304-308) finished ninth out of 10 teams, eight strokes ahead of Eastern Washington.
Â
Northern Arizona (282-283-282) won its 10th Big Sky title, its first since 2022. Northern Colorado (284-286-282) was second, five strokes behind the Lumberjacks. Montana State (284-299-284) placed third.
Â
Raina Ports, who ends her career with the best career scoring average in program history (76.51), shot rounds of 80, 74 and 77 to tie for 34th.
Â
Bella Johnson (75-72-88) finished 42nd, Kate Bogenschutz (74-81-82) placed 45th, Hannah Ports (80-82-78) came in 48th after playing her final six collegiate holes at 1-under.
Â
Northern Arizona's Lizzie Neale (72-71-65) and Montana State's Norah Seidl (68-73-67) both finished 5-under. Seidl won the individual title on the first hole of a playoff.
