Snyder honored as Big Sky Player of Week

The Big Sky Conference has announced its football players of the week for games played Oct. 11. Eastern Washington quarterback Erik Meyer is the Offensive Player of the Week, Eastern Washington safety A.J. Williams is the Defensive Player of the Week and Montana placekicker Chris Snyder earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Meyer completed 17-of-22 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown in Eastern Washington's 42-16 victory over Portland State. Meyer, a sophomore from La Mirada, Calif., also had two touchdown runs in the first quarter that gave the Eagles a 14-3 lead. Meyer's touchdown runs were from nine and 26 yards out while his touchdown pass was a nine-yarder to Joe Pierce. Through seven games this season Meyer has passed for 1,442 yards and 16 touchdowns with only one interception. Meyer has also completed 64.5 percent of his passes.
Williams led Eastern Washington in tackles as the Eagles defeated Portland State 42-16 in Cheney. Williams finished the game with eight total tackles, two tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups. A junior from Lacey, Wash., Williams helped lead an Eagle defensive effort that held the PSU offense to just ten points and 322 yards. Seven of Williams' eight tackles were solo efforts.
Snyder kicked four field goals in Montana's 12-7 home win over Weber State. Snyder made field goals from 22, 46, 20 and 40 yards to give the Grizzlies a victory in their first Big Sky game of the season. A senior from Mead, Wash., Snyder tied the Montana single-game record that he previously held along with two other players with four field goals. This is the second time this year Snyder has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.
