Montana soccer signs in-state recruit

The University of Montana announced the signing of another soccer recruit, Sara Aspinwall of Great Falls, Mont., who will compete on the Grizzly soccer team next fall.
Aspinwall was one of the main scoring threats on a Great Falls High team that went 10-5-1 last year and finished second in the state, losing 1-0 to Helena Capital in the state 'AA' championship game. Aspinwall scored six goals and had five assists for the Bison.
Aspinwall is the most decorated athlete in the history of Great Falls High. She has lettered four times in soccer, cross country and swimming, once in track and three times in softball. During her stellar soccer career, Aspinwall was a three-time all-state selection. Her teammates voted her the Bison's team MVP three times and offensive MVP once and she was a team captain for three years as well.
In swimming, Aspinwall had four top-10 finishes at state in her junior and senior years of high school.
Aspinwall is also a member of the National Honor Society.
"We are very excited to have Sara commit to the Griz soccer program. She is an outstanding person who has been on our campus a number of times over the years and gets along well with our current student athletes," head coach Neil Sedgwick said. "I feel that Sara has a special quality that will help our program continue to grow. Sara is committed to the program, but more importantly, she is committed to her personal growth as a student and player. Again we are very excited to have her join our program."
Aspinwall is the third athlete to sign with the Grizzlies this spring. Tatiana Kaiser of Elk Grove, Calif., and Meghan Chambers of Lake Oswego, Ore., signed in early February.
