Griz drop match to Boise State

The University of Montana women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Boise State in the final day of the Soccer Etc. Nike Classic. Montana trailed by as many as two goals in the first half despite out-shooting Boise State 12-7 and finishing with all eight of the game's corner kicks.
The Broncos struck first in the 27th minute on a goal by BreeAnn Milligan. Grizzly goal keeper Jamie Rizzuto cleared a ball out to Milligan who lobbed it back passed the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
Boise State took a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute when a Bronco forward was tackled hard in the box. Forward Brennan Lau capitalized on a penalty kick to give the Broncos the commanding lead.
Montana's only goal was scored by sophomore forward Lindsay Winans. Winans headed in a pass from sophomore defender Kelly Fullerton's free kick to cut the deficit to one goal in the 44th minute.
Fullerton, Winans, Lily Coble and Mahlleace Tomsin each recorded two shots for the Grizzlies. Rizzuto led UM with two saves. Milligan led Boise State with two shots. Goal keeper Kim Parker had one save for the Broncos.
Montana drops to 3-2-1 on the season and returns to action on Friday with a 5 p.m. home match versus Colorado College at South Campus Stadium.
