Montana and Sacramento State battle to 1-1 tie

The University of Montana women's soccer team (7-6-1, 1-1-1) was out shot by Sacramento State (7-6-2, 1-1-1), 21-9, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie, Friday, Oct. 13, in Sacramento, Calif.
"We were glad to come away with a point today," said coach Neil Sedgwick. "I have been to Sac. State three times during my career at Montana and this is the first time we have come away with a point."
Senior Lindsay Winans opened the scoring with her goal off a loose ball in the box following a corner kick in 69th minute. The goal was her eighth of the year and 29th of career. Winans also took a team-high four shots in the game, after coming on as a substitute. She currently ranks tied for first with Holly Jones of NAU (1998-01) in Big Sky career history with 217 shots.
The Hornets tied the game in the 85th minute as Kayelyn Satkowski also scored off a corner kick.
The teams would battle through two overtime periods before ending in a tie.
Beverly Goebel took a match-high five shots for Sacramento State.
Freshman Grace Harris made nine saves and allowed one goal for the Grizzlies, while Jenny Lawrence made six saves and allowed one goal for the Hornets.
Each team was caught offside twice.
Montana will continue Big Sky play as it faces Portland State, Sunday, Oct. 15, in Portland, Ore.
