Griz host ISU on Senior Day, travel to WSU

The University of Montana soccer team tied Sacramento State, 1-1, Friday, Oct. 13 before defeating Portland State, 1-0, Sunday, Oct. 15.
The Grizzlies will host Big Sky leader Idaho State, Thursday, Oct. 19, before facing Weber State, Saturday, Oct. 21.

Montana is 6-3-1 all-time against Idaho State. The Grizzlies are a perfect 5-0-0 against the Bengals at home and are currently on a two-game winning streak against ISU.
Montana is 8-6-0 all-time against Weber State. The Grizzlies are 2-3-0 all-time against the Wildcats in Ogden and are currently on a two-game losing streak against WSU.

"Idaho State is a good solid team, a very direct team, with some good size and mature athletes. They have also posted some good results against some good opposition," said coach Neil Sedgwick.
??Weber State is a well organized team and has had some solid weekends in conference. They are a solid team at home and a difficult team to break down. It??s my first time to Weber State and I hear that the field is difficult to play on," said coach Sedgwick.
"Kristina Lamberty has been very valuable to us during her only year in the program. She is a bundle of energy and does everything in the midfield for us, attack, defend. She does everything we ask of her and more," said coach Sedgwick.
"Lindsay Winans is back in goal scoring form. She has been a leader since I have been here and we will certainly miss her for what she provides both on and off the field," said coach Sedgwick.
"MacKenzie Murphy has come a long way as a player. She leads through example by her work rate and sets the example for the team on the field," said coach Sedgwick.
"Kelly Fullerton has been a solid rock in the back for us and she cares about the program and her performance," said coach Sedgwick.

Montana head coach Neil Sedgwick (Dalhouise, 1995) is in his third season at UM. The Sackville, Nova Scotia, native has a 19-27-4 record leading the Griz and a 38-42-4 career record in his fifth season as a head coach. Prior to joining the Griz staff, Sedgwick was an assistant at Southern California and was the head coach at North Dakota. Sedgwick is 2-0-0 all-time against Idaho State and 1-2-0 all-time against Weber State.
Idaho State head coach Allison Gibson (Sonoma State, 1995) is in her first season leading the Bengals. Gibson is 7-7-0 all-time at Idaho State and as a head coach. Prior to taking over the Bengal program, Gibson served as an assistant coach at the University of San Francisco for five seasons and was an assistant at Sonoma State for two seasons. She was also a two-time All-American as a player at Sonoma State.
Weber State head coach Tim Crompton (Weber State, 1996) is in his third season leading the Wildcats. Crompton is 29-20-7 all-time at Weber State and as a head coach. Prior to taking the helm at WSU, Crompton spent 12 years as a high school coach and was the assistant coach for the WSU men??s club team for two years.

Senior Lindsay Winans moved into first place in career shots in Big Sky history against Portland State with 219 shots. The Tigard, Ore., native passed Holly Jones of NAU (1998-01) who ranks second with 217 shots. This season she ranks second in the Big Sky in both shots (60, 4.00 per game) and goals (8, 0.53 per game).
Winans scored her eighth goal of the season, and 29th of her career, against Sacramento State. She scored off a loose ball in the box following a corner kick.
Winans followed up with an assist on freshman Sami Cooke's game-winning goal against Portland State.

Sophomore Sami Cooke scored her first career goal against Portland State. The Anchorage, Alaska, native scored the game-winner in the 50th minute off a cross from senior Lindsay Winans.
Cooke has taken three shots while playing in 23 career games.
campbell steps in
Sophomore Sara Campbell took on a unique role over the weekend. The Billings, Mont., native recorded the first save of her career as took over the goalkeeping duties after starting freshman goalkeeper Grace Harris received a red card against Sacramento State. She would pick up her first win as she held Portland State scoreless.
Campbell has one goal and one assist in her 31 game career.
griz defense leads big sky
The Grizzly defense has been nothing but strong this season. UM leads the Big Sky in both goals allowed (0.80 per game) and goals against average (0.78). Montana hasn't even given its opponents much opportunity to score, giving up an average of 10.5 shots per game. The Grizzlies have also not allowed more than two goals in a single game this season.

The offense has also been no slouch this season. The Grizzlies have scored 24 goals this season and ranks second in the Big Sky with 1.60 goals per game. The team is also averaging 14.33 shots per game, third best in the Big Sky.

Idaho State enters the match with a 0.98 goals against average this season, second in the Big Sky behind Montana. The Bengals opponents have scored a majority of its goals, 12 of 14, after halftime. This has come as a result of the fact that the Bengals have given up 95 of 165 shots after halftime, as well as 40 of 56 corner kicks.
Junior Michelle Okumura leads the team with five goals and is tied for the team-lead with 10 points. The Sandy, Utah, native has also taken 30 shots this season. She has also converted the Bengals lone penalty shot this season.
Freshman Annamarie Hofstetter leads the Big Sky with seven assists this season. The Boise, Idaho, native has scored one goal this season, a game-winner, while taking 18 shots.

WSU, the defending Big Sky champions, defeated Northern Colorado, 2-1 in overtime, Oct. 13, and followed up with a 1-1 tie against Northern Arizona, Oct. 15. The Wildcats will face Eastern Washington, Friday, Oct. 19, before tangling with the Grizzlies, Sunday, Oct. 21. WSU has played seven overtime games this season, posting a 1-3-3 record.
Weber State leads the conference this season in both goals with 1.93 per game and assists with 1.87 per game.
The Wildcats offensive attack is lead by freshman Natalie Ellis and senior Linsey McFarland.
Ellis leads the Big Sky this season with nine goals. The Farmington, Utah, native has added one assist and ranks second in the conference with 19 points, 1.27 per game.
McFarland, a unanimous All-Big Sky first team selection last season, leads the league with 20 points and ranks second with six assists. The Hooper, Utah, native has also scored seven goals, including two game winners, on 26 shots this season.
Sophomore Hayley McCoy leads the team with 51 shots, fifth-highest in the Big Sky. The Richland, Wash., native has also tallied two goals and three assists for seven points this season.
Freshman Rebecca Ritchie has posted a 1.10 goals against average for the Wildcats this season. The Hilton, N.Y., native has posted three shutouts while making 70 saves, third best in the Big Sky.
