Griz golfers finish 20th at regional tournament

The University of Montana golf team fired a final-round 310 Saturday to finish in 20th place at the NCAA West Regional in Auburn, Wash. The Grizzlies finished 78 strokes off the lead of team champion Purdue, which tallied a 17-over-par 881 at the 6,289 yard-Washington National Golf Club.
For the first time in school history Montana ends its season at the regional tournament. The top eight teams advance to the NCAA National Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Junior Krista Swanson led all Grizzlies through the three-day tourney. Swanson, from Forest Lake, Minn., tied for 52nd overall with a three-round total of 233 (79-76-78).
Senior Jasi Acharya finished one stroke back of Swanson, carding a 54-hole total of 234 (81-80-73). Acharya??s final-round 73 was the low individual round by any Grizzly at the tournament.
Sophomore Anna Maria Jaramillo shot a final-round 76 to finish tied for 93rd overall with a 246 (87-83-76). Senior Mary Hasselberg tallied an 84 to grab a share of 98th place with a three-round 250 (84-83-84).
Sophomore Brittany Williamson rounded out the Grizzly lineup with a third-round 86, tying for 103rd with a three-round 254 (88-80-86).
