Grizzlies to hold second fall scrimmage

The University of Montana football team will hold its second fall scrimmage of the 2006 campaign on Thursday, August 24, at approximately 9:15 a.m. The abbreviated scrimmage will take place at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
"It's just another look at our guys at game speed," head coach Bobby Hauck said. "Our players have been working extremely hard in practice so we're not going to want to push things too far."
Montana is working on refining things for the season-opening game against the University of Iowa. The Grizzly offense, with first-year quarterbacks coach Steve Axman, are working on some new offensive wrinkles for the 2006 season.
"We've been implementing a good piece of the 2000 and 2001 Washington offense, which Coach Axman felt was crucial to the success of that Rose Bowl team," Hauck said. "We hope it can add another dimension to our offense."
Also on Thursday evening UM will also participate in the fan-friendly Great Griz Encounter, at which the team is introduced to the public, begins at 5:30 p.m. that day in Caras Park.
Montana opens its season September 2 with a road game at the University of Iowa. UM's Big Sky Conference schedule starts September 23 with a home game against Sacramento State.
