Griz golfers place 10th at San Diego State Invitational

The University of Montana golf team totaled a final-round 317 on Tuesday to finish 10th overall at the San Diego State Invitational in Chula Vista, Calif. The Grizzlies finished the 36-hole tournament with a 625, 32 strokes back of team champion UC Irvine who tallied an 8-over-par 593.
Patty Chawalitmetha of UC Irvine took home individual medalist honors with a score of 142.
Sophomore Alyssa Williamson was Montana??s top finisher, tying for 11th with a 36-hole total of 151. Williamson, who entered the final round in a tie for fourth after carding a 2-over-par 73 on Monday, played 6-over-par on Tuesday with 12 pars and six bogeys.
Sophomore Jacqueline Olson fired back-to-back rounds of 78, finishing the tournament in a tie for 39th place with a 12-over-par total of 156. Olson??s final round was made up of a birdie, five bogeys and a double-bogey to go with 11 pars.
Freshman Carissa Simmons tied for 55th overall with a two-round total of 160. Simmons, who registered 10 pars on the day, shot a second-round 81 to finish 16-over-par for the tournament.
Freshman Kacey Valla followed up Monday??s 78 by carding an 11-over-par 82 in the final round for a share of 67th place. Valla, who birdied the final hole, had nine bogeys, a triple-bogey to go with seven pars.
Senior Anna Maria Jaramillo shot a final-round 80 to also finish the tournament in a tie for 67th place with a 19-over-par total of 163. Jaramillo tallied a birdie, seven bogeys and a double-bogey with her nine pars in the final round.
The Grizzlies have completed their fall tournament schedule and will not return to competition until March of 2008 when they travel to the Northern Arizona Invitational.
