Montana tennis teams represented at ITA Regionals

The University of Montana men??s and women??s tennis teams will participate in this week??s ITA Regional tennis tournaments scheduled for Oct. 17-21. The UM men will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., while the Griz women will compete in Tulsa, Okla.
Representing the Griz men will be junior Felipe Raw, sophomores Mikolaj Borkowski and Raydner Ramos and freshman David Cysneiros. The Montana women will travel with juniors Martyna Nowak and Liz Walker.
Last time out:
University of Montana sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski defeated fellow teammate junior Felipe Raw in the singles championship in last Sunday??s final day of play at the Montana Invitational in Missoula. Borkowski finished the tournament 4-0 in the singles draw to pace the Grizzlies over the weekend.
Raw went 3-1 in singles action for the second-place finish.
The doubles championship was also determined on Sunday, with the unattached team of Andrew Dobbs and Hugh McDonald winning 8-2 over Idaho??s Banks and Paulo Miranda.
Day two recap (10/13/07): Freshman Rebecca Bran claimed the women??s singles title and two Griz men advanced to the men??s singles championship on day two of the Montana Invitational at the Lindsay Tennis Center in Missoula, Mont.
Both the singles and doubles draws on the women??s side were complete last Saturday, while the men??s draws will feature Sunday championship matchups. The title matches for men??s singles and doubles are slated for 9 a.m. (MTN).
Bran, from Melbourne, Australia, defeated teammate junior Martyna Nowak in the all-Montana final. Bran won in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to claim the singles title.
The Montana doubles tandem of Nowak and junior Liz Walker teamed up for the doubles championship, winning 9-7 over the unattached team of Mary Tinnirello and Laura Leoni.
The Montana men dominated the singles draw, advancing three to the semifinal round. Junior Felipe Raw won 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 over teammate and fellow junior Colin Dektar. Raw will meet another teammate in Sunday??s singles final, as UM sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski was victorious over Neil in the other semifinal, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Idaho??s doubles team of Banks and Paulo Miranda will face the unattached tandem of Andrew Dobbs and Hugh McDonald for the doubles crown on Sunday morning.
