Montana men's tennis to play EWU/GU Invitational

The University of Montana men??s tennis team continues its 2007 fall tournament schedule this week at the Eastern Washington / Gonzaga Invitational Oct. 5-7 in Spokane, Wash. The three-day competition is the second of four fall tournaments Montana is scheduled to participate in.
Last time out:
Montana opened its 2007 fall tournament schedule Sept. 21-23 at the Montana State Open in Bozeman. The tournament was highlighted by three different Grizzlies who advanced to the quarterfinal round of the singles draw and a pair of UM doubles teams which also advanced to the quarterfinals.
Five of the eight Grizzlies that competed boasted a winning singles record, combining for a 13-10 overall mark as a team in singles action.
Montana sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski and freshman David Cysneiros each went 3-1 in singles action. Juniors Colin Dektar and Felipe Raw and sophomore Raydner Ramos all finished 2-1 in singles.
Borkowski registered straight-set wins over the first three rounds, defeating Steven Gruener (MSU-B) and teammates Felipe Raw and Raydner Ramos. Borkowski eventually lost in the semifinals to MSU??s Kyle McDonald, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Cysneiros dropped his opening round matchup with Pawel Turzanski (MSU) before rallying for consolation wins over Rhys Hobbs (MSU-B), Jesse Peach (open) and Esteban Ferrero (MSU).
The Grizzlies were led in doubles action by Dektar and Ramos who advanced to the doubles semifinal where they lost to Cysneiros who was playing with former Griz player Stuart Wing. Cysneiros-Wing eventually advanced to the doubles title match where they won 8-6 over a another open tandem, Lukasz Mazur and Chris Tokar.
Dektar-Ramos finished 2-1 in doubles action on the weekend, while Borkowski-Raw went 1-1 in doubles play.

The Griz will host the 2007 Montana Invitational Oct. 12-14 at the recently renovated Lindsay Tennis Center in Missoula. Following the home tournament, Montana will wrap up the season Oct. 17-21 at the ITA Regionals in Las Vegas, Nev.
