Griz face first road test of season at Sac State

The top-ranked University of Montana Grizzlies (5-0/2-0 Big Sky Conference) continue their 2007 Big Sky Conference schedule Saturday, October 13, playing their first road game of the season against the Sacramento State Hornets (1-4/1-2 Big Sky) at 3:05 p.m. (Mtn.) in Hornet Stadium (21,195, grass).
LAST 5-0 START: The last time the Griz started a season at 5-0 was in 2002 when they won their first 10 games of the year. Montana was 11-3 that season.

GRIZZLIES LAST WEEK - MONTANA 24, EASTERN WASHINGTON 23: Senior kicker Dan Carpenter connected on a 34-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining, as the top-ranked Grizzlies edged the visiting Eagles last Saturday afternoon in a key Big Sky Conference game in front of 23,226 fans at UM??s Washington-Grizzly Stadium/John Hoyt Field.
BAGLEY MAKES BIG PLAY: In their final series the Grizzlies faced a 4th-and-10 from their own 38. Junior quarterback Cole Bergquist lofted a pass to senior receiver Ryan Bagley who made a diving catch in front of the EWU bench, and Montana had a crucial first down at the Eagles?? 35-yard line. A couple of Bergquist passes to junior receiver Mike Ferriter covering 18 yards moved the ball to the EWU 17-yard line to set up Carpenter??s game-winner.
OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Bergquist was 16-of-32-0 for 181 yards and two TDs, and rushed 10 times for 38 yards. Ferriter had a team-high of 6 catches for 65 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season. Bagley had 2 grabs for 53 yards and a score. Senior halfback Lex Hilliard had game-highs of 15 carries for 70 yards and scored his seventh rushing touchdown of the season, and also had 3 receptions.
??D?? LEADERS: Senior LBs Tyler Joyce and Loren Utterback had game-highs of 12 tackles each, and senior end Kroy Biermann had seven tackles and a sack.
