Montana men defeat UC Davis in home opener

Despite losing all three doubles matches, The University of Montana men's tennis team rallied to win four of the six singles matches to defeat UC Davis, 4-3, Friday, Feb. 2, in Cheney, Wash.
Sophomore Colin Dektar, playing at the No. 1 singles position for the first time in his career, came from behind in the final match of the day to defeat senior Michael Chin, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5.
"It was great to see Colin come from behind to win game point. We had great singles play from our top four singles players despite the fact we were without Stuart Wing," said head coach Kris Nord.
The Grizzlies also picked up wins in straight sets at the No. 2, 3 and 4 positions.
Sophomore Felipe Raw defeated junior Henri Landes, 6-3, 6-4, while freshman Raydner Ramos downed Tyler Lee, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Mikolaj Borkowski, who joined the team at the start of the spring semester, defeated junior Justin Garcia, 6-3, 7-6.
Senior Brady Tommerup fell at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2, to senior Jayce Fitch. Sophomore Tim Neidhardt was defeated by junior Daniel Elefant, 6-1, 6-1.
Montana dropped all three doubles matches. Dektar and Ramos lost to Fitch and Elefant, 8-6, while Raw and Borkowski fell to Chin and Garcia, 8-6. Tommerup and Neidhardt also lost to sophomore Michael Reiser and senior Casey McMakin, 8-3.
