UM golfers currently 6th in Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MISSOULA ?C The University of Montana women??s golf team is currently in sixth place in the nine-team Wyoming Cowgirl Classic after the first day of competition in the 54 hole tournament at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona.
Fellow Big Sky Conference member Northern Arizona leads with a first-day total of 602 (304-298) at the par 72, 6,108-yard course.
NAU is followed by British Columbia (630), Northern Colorado (634), host Wyoming (625), Montana State (639), and Montana (646).
UM??s current top placer is senior Krista Swanson who is tied for seventh at 155 (76-79).
Montana??s other competitors are senior Jill Walker who is tied for 18th with a total of 161 (82-79), freshman Alyssa Williamson is tied for 23rd at 164 (81-83), , while juniors Brittany Williamson (84-83=167) and Anna Maria Jaramillo (88-82=170) are tied for 28th and 38th, respectively.
The leader is Ali Carter of NAU at +3 with a 147 (72-75), while MSU??s Kelly Gillum (76-74)
and NAU??s Sophia Choi a(77-73) are tied for second with 150 and are at +6.
Next week defending league champion Montana will be competing in the 2007 Big Sky Championships, April 16-18, at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona.
