Former Griz Dlouhy named USA Football All-Star

VIENNA, VA. - Former University of Montana defensive end Dustin Dlouhy was one of 13 Team USA members recently named to the 24-man all-team team at the 2007 World Championship of American Football.
The team was released by the International Federation of American Football earlier last week.
Dlouhy, a 6-2, 240-pounder from Idaho Falls, Idaho, was Team USA's leading tackler with nine stops, one for a loss. He was a four-year letterman for the Grizzlies. In 50 career games at UM Dlouhy had 171 tackles. He is ninth in school history in both career sacks and career tackles for loss, with 17 and 24.5, respectively.
Running back Kyle Kasperbauer of Nebraska-Omaha was named the MVP. He is joined on offense by fullback Cody Childs (Wisconsin-Stevens Point), tight end Brian Thompson (Michigan), and offensive linemen Shawn Robinson (Morningside), Kris King (Gardner-Webb) and Brad Poston (Coastal Carolina).
Joining Dlouhy on the Team USA defensive unit are ends Jeremy Van Alstyne (Michigan), linebacker Demetrius Eaton (Northwestern), cornerback Rob Rodriguez (Christopher Newport) and safety Kenny Chicoine (Cal Poly).
Kicker Craig Coffin (Southern Illinois) and return specialist Bobby Awrey (Saginaw Valley State) round out the U.S. honorees. Coffin set new tournament records for scoring (29 points), PATs (17) and PATs in a game (11 vs. Korea).
Kasperbauer and Childs each scored a tournament-high three touchdowns, one shy of the tournament record.
Rodriguez blocked two punts and forced a safety against Germany and recovered a blocked punt for a score against Korea. He also posted a tournament-high three pass break-ups. Chicoine had an interception on the opening play of the championship game to set up Team USA's first touchdown.
